We are about to release a SaaS application running on Windows Azure named StratEx, a solution for PMO who want to perform their duties in close cooperation with their teams, easily and affordably.

During the design of the application, we were looking for a solution addressing several business needs:

  1. Produce production-ready reports in PDF, Word or Excel based on the templates we already had (mostly in Word format)
  2. We did not want to re-design our ±35 Word templates. See the screenshot here below “Acceptance Form” and “Meeting minutes”
  3. We were looking for an affordable solution that was easy to integrate with our existing IT System (Microsoft .NET Framework)

We used already the components from DevExpress to display the controls like calendars and tables but we couldn’t find any component that may address the needs described here above.

We have finally found out that Aspose.Words for .NET fulfilled all these requirements and was able to generate our reports in record time!
So the decision to invest in their product was quickly made – they left the competition far behind from the business and the technological views; we even tried free solutions available on CodePlex! They taste like Aspose.Words but they don’t compete or don’t provide a production-ready support.

Happy surprises

Besides our requirements, we have find out that we didn’t have to change a single part of our Word templates as we were already heavily using the Document properties;

At the same time the full automation capabilities ensure that our customers won’t forget to update the fields before printing a document as Aspose.Words does the work for them!

A short conclusion

Some members of the team were familiar with Aspose.Words for .NET and they said that Aspose.Words evolved over the years into an even more usable tool; Our team was able to generate even more complex documents with very little effort than what they achieved in the past (it was in 2007)!
